Our study on being confident in God's love and acceptance of us using the book The Confident Woman: Knowing Who You Are In Christ by Anabel Gillham began Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
We learned how to embrace our identity in Christ and dispel the myth that we need to be perfect to experience God's undying love for us. Thursday, May 3, 2012 Ready to get started? Here's some information to help you get the most out of this study.
We thank everyone that was able to join us on tonight's call! We got some great feedback for tonight's question - what comes to mind when you think of the word "confident"? For some, it meant being sure of yourself; others saw it as meaning comfortable in your own talents and abilities. What do you think? Post your comments in the box below. Couldn't join us live? Thursday, May 17, 2012 We experienced some technical difficulties last week and were unable to call in, but we picked up tonight where we left off. Our call focused on Chapter 3 - The Simple Truth. In this chapter, the author discusses the most basic of human needs - love - and how it (or the lack of it) plays such a critical role in who we become. Anabel shows us that perfect love, Christ's love, is unconditional. It isn't performance or assessment based; it isn't earned or won. It just IS. Wow! What a freeing thought. I don't have to be perfect to receive God's love! We also learned the importance of allowing Christ to live His life through us instead of the other way around. Finally, we looked at our natural birth characteristics as sons and daughters of Adam and our new spiritual characteristics as sons and daughters of Spiritual Adam. Powerful stuff! Chapter 4 - Reprogramming Your Personal Computer was an eye opener! We laughed, we cried, we re-evaluated ourselves as God used this chapter to make us think about who we are in Him. No need to blame our parents - our spiritual DNA has been created by the blood of Jesus Christ and is powerful enough to eradicate every negative anything we could have possibly thought was part of our nature! Tonight's lesson explains the relationship between our Body, Soul, and Spirit and the things that go along with each. We talked about the difference between the brain and the mind, and discussed the importance of letting the mind of Christ become a part of our daily walk. We were moved by Anabel's candor and wit as she so beautifully and expertly explained why we think and act the way that we do. We also came away armed with scriptures that we can use to counteract the fiery darts of guilt, doubt, insecurity, and other negative feelings that the enemy flings at us.
